Angie Stone Analysis

For our CD cover ideas we had analysed Angie Stone's Mahogany Soul and explained how it links to her personality, music and over all my views of the album cover. The main image of the artist shows her to be peaceful, natural and calm relating to the colours and her facial expression. The shot is indirect and subverts the normal conform of looking into the camera inviting the audience. Although she looks away from the camera and looks above maybe signifying peace and nature. The colours also link to her being calm and peaceful as well as linking to the name of the album cover . Mahogany is a deep brown colour and the colours of her album is brown. The image suggest she is humble and proud but not in an arrogant way. The composition and the layout shows the main image of the artist as a close up suggest her high status of an artist as well as show her face not her body.Central framed, implies that everything is hers including the music, its all original. Also the layout is simplistic. Her appearance in the shot is simplistic and her make up is natural and not over done showing the simplicity of her and the album. We see that she is not wearing no jewellery and not "blinged out" as she feels like that's not what her music is about. We see that she links her music to the album showing she is not fake and materialistic but simple and down to earth. The colour mahogany also links to the shot of her as it blends on with her Afro. The typography is simplistic, sophisticated and easy to read. We see she had the colour cream to also link to the simplicity of her album. The typography colour links to the brown in her album. The colours all link with each other the use of brown and cream and the prop which is the twigs also link to the name of her album. Overall the album cover suggest she is down to earth, humble and that she takes her music seriously as she subverts the direct gaze pose and subverts the male gaze. We also see that she uses a close up of herself showing that she wants people to see her face rather than her body.

Timings of Location Shots

When shooting the scenes for our videos we had used our time up during half term to shoot the love scenes with Noor and Micheal as a couple in Central London and took different shots in Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square and St James Park. We had met on Tuesday 26th October to film the shots of her waiting in Trafalgar Square for her boyfriend and we took some shots of her in St James Park. Then the following day we had met again to do the love scenes between her and Michael in St James Park sitting down and talking and then the shots of Michael buying a teddy bear for her n Leicester Square.

Music Channels

Music channels that would exhibit our music video would be willing to present my music video. Having researched music channels that would accesable through freeview channels, Sky channels or Virgin.
Q shows quirky music and upbeat music that would be a perfect channel for our music video. It allows the audience to listen to new music as well as different genres in comparison to most music channels that focus on one type of genre. It is based on the music magazine and was launched in 2000. It is operated by Box Television, and specialises in indie, rock and alternative.
Box Television also provides an audience with different genre's but fixes mainly on pop music and party songs. Although are song is quirky and humourous we would find it on this channel due to the similiarity of Lily Allen songs and video's that would relate to our song. It is also a joint venue between Bauer Group and Channel 4. MTV would also be a good music chanel that would play our music video as it dominates a large audience and would also benefit us as it plays all different genres and it would also be beneficial to new and upcoming artists.MTV is an American network based in New York City that launched on August 1, 1981. VIVA would be a good music channel as it is a 24 hour music channel that plays non stop music and programmes. It was launched in Germany in 1993 and has been successful.

NME is also from a music magazine and is a British music channel owned by CSC media group. The channel replaced Minx on 22 November 2007.

History Of The Music Video

The first music video ever to be made is "Video Killed The Radio star" by The Buggles
The first music video broad casted on MTV's first day, August 1, 1981.

Michael Jackson's - Thriller

Often referred to as the greatest music video ever and has also been voted the most influential pop music video of all time,Thriller proved to have a profound effect on popular culture, and was named "a watershed moment for the [music] industry"for its unprecedented merging of film making and music. Guinness World Records listed it in 2006 as the "most successful music video", selling over 9 million units.

It is the seventh and final single from his sixth studio album Thriller. It was released on January 23, 1984 by Epic Records. The song has appeared on multiple greatest hits compilation albums from Jackson, including HIStory (1995) and This Is It (2009). It was written by Rod Temperton and produced by Quincy Jones. Photo's For The Ancillary Tasks

Here are some test shots of Noor our performer and these will help us for picking a photo for our CD cover and the back cover

Monday, 18 October 2010

Storyboard

The storyboard consists of our performer having a bad day as soon as she wake ups, her room is a mess and she cannot find anything. She seems lost and confused. Her lyrics also link in to the song as she is having a bad day and she stumbles into work late and is a bad morning as its raining and nothing goes right. We then shoot at a office location and we see that her computer freezes and she can get anything right. As work finishes she finally sees her boyfriends which cheers her day up and she everything goes right and she then has a twist and she leaves her boyfriend to go clubbing with her friends. From our location shots we will be shooting the office location at school as there is an empty office we can use, central London such as Hyde Park, St James Park, Trafalgar Square and London Eye to show the night scenes and we will be using restaurants scenes showing Noor and Jack on a date in love and having a good time. We will also be using Harrow On the Hill to show some scenes of Noor and Jack walking up the hill and the posh area showing the loaction and them walking hand in hand while having a converssation.

Location Shots

We shall be using a combination of performance shots in the studio and location shots in the more secluded part of Harrow on the Hill and various places around central London like St James park, Hyde Park and the London eye. The night time shots shall be shot in central London as that is the times she will be out with her boyfriend and her friends for the end. We will also be using office shots to show her work and to link to the song.
